Our History
Gibraltar International Bank (GIB) opened its doors in 2015 with a vision to serve the people and businesses of Gibraltar with a focus on providing seamless banking solutions. With our history intertwined with the growth of Gibraltar’s financial sector, we’ve built a strong reputation for offering secure, trusted services. GIB is focused on embracing new technology, creating excellent customer experience and honouring local traditions.
Founding Our Roots in Gibraltar
GIB was founded in 2013, officially launched in May 2014 when Lawrence Podesta and Derek Sene joined the Bank as the new Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer. The goal was set and we focused on providing our local customers with a personalised banking experience, making sure each person and business is treated with respect and given the best possible service.
Adapting to a Digital Future
Our doors opened in 2015 with just 52 staff members and a business plan to deliver a digital bank, moving away from the traditional manual retail banking. As our digital banking grew, so did we. Our bank embraced technological advancements to provide innovative solutions that made banking easier and more accessible to everyone, whether at home or on the go.
Building on Our Legacy for the Future
Today, we are proud to be a part of a growing community with over 100 staff members where we continue to build on our history of service and commitment. GIB is recognised for its stability, innovation, and ongoing dedication to improving the lives of the people of Gibraltar.
