Albert Langston MBE, GMD, JP, FCIB brings extensive experience in, and understanding of, retail, commercial and private banking as well as trust and company management. This has been built over a period of over 40 years. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and is Chairman of the Gibraltar International Bank Limited. He was awarded the MBE in the 2019 New Year’s Honours List. He was also honoured in 2019 as one of the recipients of the prestigious Gibraltar Medallion of Distinction. He is also Chairman of the Board of Governors of the University of Gibraltar.
He is a former Chairman and Country Manager of Lloyds Bank Gibraltar and was previously Assistant General Manager of Barclays (Gibraltar Management) Limited. He has been President of the Gibraltar Bankers’ Association (two terms) as well as having served on the board of the Gibraltar Deposit Protection Scheme and founding member of the Gibraltar Finance Centre Council. He was the first President of the local centre of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and served as Council Member of the Institute. He is also a former Chairman of the Gibraltar Magistrates’ Association and is a Lay Assessor for complicated financial Supreme Court cases. He has also been the Chairman of the Prison Board.
Lawrence commenced his career in 1976 with Barclays Bank in Gibraltar as a Client Relationship clerk. During his 20 years of service with Barclays Bank he fulfilled a number of roles of which the most senior positions were, Finance Manager, Training Manager, Human Resources Manager, Manager of Corporate Lending and Head of Retail Lending and Securities for Advances. In 1996 Lawrence joined the Swiss Private Bank Lombard Odier & Cie in Gibraltar as Chief Financial Officer and with overall responsibility for Human Resources.
In 2003 he became Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO, both positions which he retained until Joining The Gibraltar International Bank as CEO in May 2014. Lawrence was also responsible for the Financial Controlling function of Lombard Odier & Cie London Office from 2009 to 2011 with responsibility for regulatory reporting to the FSA and Head Office. He also served in the Board of both The Gibraltar Investor Compensation Scheme and The Gibraltar Deposit Guarantee Scheme from 2007 to 2013. Lawrence was a Committee member of the Gibraltar Bankers Association from 2007 to 2010, being made Vice President in 2009/10. In 2006 he also formed part of the Basle II implementation committee.
David spent 28 years with the RBS/ NatWest Group in a variety of roles including the first 17 years in the UK supporting many types of businesses with their banking requirements.
In 2008, David took up a new role within RBS / NatWest Group with RBS International, Guernsey to focus on international finance centre clients mainly in the private equity funds market but also including insurance and trust clients.
David moved to Gibraltar in 2013 to become NatWest Regional Director & Country Head focussing on the growth of the bank in the local market and elected to keep Gibraltar as his home base when taking up a new role in 2016 as Head of RBS International Corporate & Commercial business across its four jurisdictions of Gibraltar, Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey. In his final year with RBS / NatWest, David combined both NatWest Gibraltar Country Head and RBS International Head of Corporate & Commercial roles.
In November 2018 David joined Gibraltar International Bank as Chief Business Officer to help support the continued growth of the bank.
On 12 June 2014, Peter was appointed as Queen’s Counsel in Gibraltar and is a senior partner of Hassans International Law Firm. Peter’s area of expertise is in commercial and private client matters. He has also advised on numerous financial services, regulatory and trust related matters. Peter was closely involved in the IPOs of various gaming companies established in Gibraltar, which have been listed on the London Stock Exchange. Peter has been closely involved in drafting numerous changes to Gibraltar’s legislation in trusts, financial services and gaming areas. His knowledge of these fields has led him to contribute to a large number of articles and books on Gibraltar’s legal system and financial services sector. Peter regularly speaks at international conferences relating to these areas of practice.
His work frequently requires him to deal with multiple jurisdictions as a result of which the firm has built a considerable bank of international knowledge in tax and private client arrangements. He is a member of the pre-eminent global gambling law networking and educational organization, International Masters of Gaming Law. Peter was also Gibraltar’s Minister for Trade and Industry, with responsibility for economic development and financial services, between May 1996 and February 2000. Having graduated from Leeds University, Peter attended the Inns of Court School of Law as a member of Lincoln’s Inn. Peter qualified as a Barrister in 1982, becoming a partner of Hassans in 1988.
Marcus Killick (LLb Mphil) is the Chief Executive Officer of Isolas law firm, he is also Non-Executive Chairman of the Gibraltar Stock Exchange (GSX) and Managing Director of Rock Publishing Ltd (owner of the Gibraltar Magazine), as well as a non-executive director of Tradewise Insurance Company Limited and Callaghans Insurance Brokers Limited. Prior to these roles he served as CEO of the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission for nearly eleven years.
He was called to the Bar in England in 1989 and admitted as a Member of the New York State Bar in 1990. He is also a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments. Marcus was awarded the OBE in the 2014 New Year’s Honours List. Marcus was also Chairman of the Gibraltar Investors Compensation Scheme and the Gibraltar Deposit Guarantee Board as well as the Group of International Insurance Centre Supervisors. Marcus is also a director of a number of other companies including Kalphe Advisory Ltd and Kalph Properties Ltd.
Prior roles also include Deputy Chief Executive of the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission, Head of Banking and Investments at the Cayman Island Monetary Authority and Director in KPMG’s Financial International Regulatory Services Team. Marcus was one of the founding directors of the United Kingdom Association of Compliance Officers (Subsequently renamed the Compliance Institute). He was also principle author of two Transparency International’s reports on Money Laundering.
Stephen qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the City of London and has been in private practice in Gibraltar for over 25 years. A registered auditor in Gibraltar with extensive experience in auditing, tax and corporate finance work, Stephen is a founding partner of the Deloitte firm in Gibraltar and currently leads the practice as its CEO, servicing international and local companies and private clients across a variety of industries. He is the nominated audit partner on several of the firm’s largest clients.
He is currently the Chairman of the Gibraltar Finance Centre Council having been on the council for six years initially representing the Gibraltar Society of Accountants and later as deputy chairman. A former President of the Gibraltar Society of Accountants and former chairman of the Society’s Tax Faculty, Stephen represented the Society in consultations with the Government on the introduction of audit regulation in Gibraltar in 2009 and led the Finance Centre Council’s response to the Government’s consultation on the revamp of Gibraltar’s tax system in 2010. Stephen became a director of the Gibraltar International Bank in September 2014.
Colin Vaughan is the Territory Senior Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Gibraltar. He has served as the firm’s managing and territory senior partner for the last 13 years. He has also served as PwC Gibraltar’s Assurance, Risk Management and Operations Leader. He continues to lead teams in providing services in Assurance, Advisory and Tax.
Colin is a past President of the Gibraltar Society of Accountants. He has also served separate terms as Chairman of the Society’s Audit, Tax and Accounting Faculties. He has held other prominent local appointments as a Board member of the Regulator’s Audit Advisory Panel, the Financial Centre Council, the Investor Compensation Scheme and the Deposit Guarantee Scheme. He also takes an active role in local activities and charities and is a trustee of a local Catholic School.
Peter Isola is the Senior Partner of the family owned Isolas law firm. Mr Isola is also the Chairman of the Fiduciary Group of Companies. He also holds appointments as a non-executive director of various regulated entities in the fields of banking, insurance, financial services, telecommunications and gaming. His areas of practice include Private Client, Financial Services (in particular banking and Insurance) and Internet Gaming. Mr Isola is Gibraltar’s contributor to Tolley’s “Planning and Administration of Offshore and Onshore Trusts” and Tolley’s “International Succession Laws”. In addition he is also Gibraltar’s Contributor to European Law Series on Insurance.
Mr Isola is a former President of the Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce (2002 to 2007) and former Vice Chairman of the Gibraltar Bar Council; President of STEP Gibraltar Branch; Representative of the Bar Council and STEP on the Gibraltar Finance Centre Council. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in addition to Gibraltar in 1982. In 1985 he also became a Notary Public. Having graduated from Kingston University, Surrey, Peter, attended the Inns of Court School of Law as a member of the Inner Temple.
Bruno Callaghan was born in Gibraltar in 1964. He is married with three adult children.
He started working for Willis Faber in 1984 in London and has been involved in the world of insurance and reinsurance for 37 years.
He returned to Gibraltar in 1989 to join the family business and shortly afterwards set up Callaghan Insurance Brokers Ltd. In 1999 he established Ace Gibraltar Ltd, a joint venture with what is today the Chubb European Group. In the 2000’s, he purchased Masbro Insurance Brokers Ltd and also created Peninsula Underwriting Ltd, a Lloyds of London MGA.
He has been a non-executive Director of various insurance captives and third party writers in Gibraltar. He has travelled on business extensively in Latin America for insurance and reinsurance business.
In 2018 he opened the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and is a Director of the Caleta Hotel and other family businesses.
He has previously served on the board of the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission and was President of the Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce amongst other non- insurance related responsibilities.
James started his career as a technology and media solicitor, qualifying into the London offices of Andersen Legal (part of the Arthur Andersen global accountancy network) in 2000. In 2002, he decided to join the in-house legal team of AOL Europe, focusing on building strategic alliances, marketing partnerships and licensing content for the pan-European team of this international internet service provider. In 2005 James arrived in Gibraltar to specialise as an online gaming lawyer at Gibraltar’s first FTSE-100 listed gaming company, PartyGaming plc. This is where James remained for 9 years and where he developed his role, through various mergers and acquisitions, ultimately serving as Director of Legal Affairs of bwin.party digital entertainment plc.
In 2014, James moved to the Stockholm listed supplier of online gaming software, NetEnt AB, establishing their Gibraltar office, building the in-house legal team, and serving as Group General Counsel and Managing Director of their Gibraltar business.
In 2020, James accepted a role as the internal Customer Ombudsman Director of the Entain plc group of companies (owner of several global gaming and betting brands such as Ladbrokes, Coral, bwin and Gala) where he seeks to ensure fair treatment of customers. James is also a director of the Gibraltar Gaming and Betting Association.
